Small-mouthed Salamander (Ambystoma texanum)

Description

Total length to 7". Males have stouter legs, wider heads and longer tails than females.


Habitats

Wet bottomland areas under rocks, leaves or logs.


Habits and Life History

Females may lay from 300 to 800 eggs attached to vegetation in shallow pools.
